Your Body Is Not Your Own—Now Live Like It

Let’s be honest—most of us like the idea of holiness more than the reality of it.

We want to be temples of the Holy Spirit… until God starts rearranging the furniture.

But in 1 Corinthians 6, Paul doesn’t ask for permission. He reminds us:

“You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
That’s not a metaphor. That’s reality.

In a culture that says, “My body, my choice,” the gospel says, “Your body, His glory.”

The Lie We Believe
The Corinthians had a slogan: “All things are lawful for me.”
Translation: “Don’t judge me. Jesus paid it all—I’m free.”

Sound familiar?
  • “It’s not hurting anyone.”
  • “God knows my heart.”
  • “Nobody’s perfect.”

But freedom in Christ isn’t the right to do what you want. It’s the power to do what pleases God.

And when freedom becomes an excuse for sin, it’s not freedom anymore—it’s slavery.
Paul says, “I will not be dominated by anything.” Can you say that?

Or have you surrendered to habits you call “struggles”?

Jesus didn’t die to help you manage sin. He died to free you from it.

The Glory You Carry
Your body isn’t a toy, a tool, or a billboard for self-expression. It’s a temple.

The Holy Spirit dwells in you. That makes your body sacred.
So when you sin with your body, you’re not just making a mistake—you’re vandalizing a sanctuary.

Holiness isn’t about earning God’s love. It’s a response to already being loved.

So ask yourself this week:

  • What’s mastering me that Jesus already died to break?
  • What am I joining my body to that contradicts my union with Christ?
  • Where do I need to stop saying, “It’s my body,” and start saying, “It’s His”?

Your body was made for more than pleasure, comfort, or image.

It was made for glory.
So glorify God in your body.
Not just in your beliefs. In your behavior.
Because you were bought with a price.
And the One who bought you is worthy.
