Preserving Life to the Glory of God

Valuing Lives Created in God’s Image

Genesis 1 reminds us that humanity is uniquely created in the image of God. This truth shapes not only how we view ourselves but also how we live and interact with others. Being made in God's image gives every human life inherent value—regardless of age, ability, or circumstances.

This truth offers immense hope, especially when facing the frailties of our earthly bodies. While physical struggles can weigh heavily, believers have a future promise: "He will wipe away every tear... death shall be no more" (Revelation 21:4). God’s image in us points to eternity, where brokenness will be replaced by perfect restoration.

But valuing life goes beyond personal hope; it shapes our actions toward others. Psalm 82:3-4 calls us to defend the weak, the fatherless, and the afflicted. This means actively standing for life in all its forms—from the unborn to the elderly.

A Call to Action

Abortion: Scripture affirms that life begins at conception. Verses like Psalm 139:13 show God’s intimate involvement in forming every person. Yet abortion remains a moral crisis. As Christians, we must respond with truth and compassion. Partnering with local organizations like Two Hearts Pregnancy Care Center provides practical ways to support women in crisis. Prayer, donations, and volunteering can make a tangible difference.

Suicide: The Bible consistently portrays suicide as contrary to God’s design. While it is tragic and complex, believers are called to offer hope, reminding others of their immense worth in God’s eyes. Support those struggling with mental health by fostering community and encouraging professional help.

Euthanasia: Just as life is God’s to give, it is His to end. Upholding this truth means caring for the elderly and terminally ill with dignity and compassion, affirming their value even in life’s final stages.

Living Pro-Life

Valuing life isn’t limited to avoiding harm; it’s about actively protecting and uplifting others. By defending the sanctity of human life, believers reflect the heart of God, who cherishes every person. Let’s live out this calling, offering hope and healing in a world desperate for both.

As we embrace this mission, remember that the church’s ultimate weapon against the devaluation of life is the gospel. Changed hearts lead to changed actions, and through Christ, we have the power to bring light into the darkest corners of our world.
