Our congregation is led by our Council of Shepherds (Dave Akers, Joe Dorsey, Danny Pelfrey, and Jerry Saulton).
Jon was born just outside of Erie, PA and grew up in the small country towns of Western NY.
He pursued a degree in Music Education from Cedarville University and served during the summers at Twin Lakes Camp in Hillsboro, IN. While serving as a summer counselor, Jon sensed a heavy burden for the ministry of the Gospel. He surrendered to the calling of God on his life and went straight into the ministry following college. He has served on staff at churches in Central Indiana (2003-2004), Southern Ohio (2004-2008), and south metro Atlanta (2008-2019), before joining the team at First Baptist Church of Kenova in October of 2019. He is currently pursuing a M. Div. in Preaching & Pastoral Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jon's deepest passion in life is to preach the Word and personally invest in making disciples who make disciples!
Jon married the love of his life, Brandi, in South Point, Ohio in 2005 and God has richly blessed them with four children: Jadon Anaiah (2010), Josiah Alan (2011), Jeremiah Asher (2013) and Lillian Grace (2016).

Nick grew up in South Point, Ohio, and attended Grace Christian School from 2nd grade through high school graduation. He then began studies at Tri-State Bible College with a focus on Theology, before moving to Nashville, TN. In Nashville, Nick formed a music group that signed a record deal with Christian Artist TobyMac, under his label Gotee Records/Warner Brothers. Nick spent the next decade professionally touring, producing, and song writing several Billboard Charting Christian Radio singles as well as garnering publishing credits internationally in TV and film.
Nick moved back to the tristate area and married Courtney and together have a son (Micah).
They own a business in the Ashland Town Center Mall called SuperHero Creamery.
From the first time that Nick first visited Kenova upon returning to the Tri-State area, he recognized that there was musical talent and potential within the church that was extraordinary. With family history at Ashland First Baptist, Nick introduced their church leadership to Pastor Steve, and a new partnership was born as a result. In July 2019, he joined the staff as the worship leader for the Kenova and Ashland campuses.

Middle School Intern
Hunter is probably known as “the goofy guy who works with the middle school kids”.
He has grown up in Kenova and he graduated from Spring Valley High School. He knew a lot about God growing up, but he hadn’t trusted in Him until his sophomore year and that’s when he became a follower of Jesus.
He has a passion to see young people trust in Jesus and to be Jesus to the community around them. His desire is to see more followers than we do fans.
If you have any questions or concerns about the aspect of middle school ministry,
feel free to reach out to Hunter at 304-654-0639.
