FBC Ashland Update

It’s hard to believe that it was only four months ago that I joined the staff here at FBC Kenova to serve as the campus Pastor for FBC Ashland. My family and I have been overwhelmed by the way you all have embraced us in such a way that we feel like we have been here for ages and have known many of you for years. For that I want to say thank you!

I also want to fill you in on the exciting ministry that is happening in Ashland. It was not too long ago that FBC Ashland was struggling with direction and purpose. However, through the partnership with FBC Kenova that began just over a year ago, the Lord has been working to revitalize this church and there is a renewed sense of purpose, hope, and mission. This has been particularly evident over the past month through the powerful Easter Cantata that you all led for us, the celebration of a baby dedication, and our first baptism.

Many of the members of FBC Ashland have shared recently that there is now an excitement about coming to church, being the church, and serving the church that they have not experienced in a long time and this is leading to exciting ministry. Some of the ministries we are most excited about are the launch of Small Groups this summer, the partnership we have formed with the CRU staff at Marshall to reach college students in our area, and the discipleship groups that are beginning to take place even now.

The work is massive and we need your help in two particular ways, especially those of you who live in Ashland. First, we need you to pray continuously that the Lord will use us to reach people in need of the gospel. Second, if you live in Ashland – or work in here – or know people who live in Ashland, please ask them to consider being a part of the ministry taking place at FBC Ashland, and perhaps even bring them to one of our services. All this is so that the fame of Jesus’ name might spread throughout the city of Ashland.
